How it’s calculated

Hours between = end − start (add 24 hours if the end is earlier than the start) − break.

Decimal hours = minutes ÷ 60.

Worked example with your numbers

  1. 9:00 AM → 5:30 PM = 8:30.
  2. Minus 0:30 break = 8:00.
  3. 8:00 = 8.00 hours (minutes ÷ 60).
