How it’s calculated
Hourly: regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × 1.5 + double-time hours × rate × 2 + bonuses and other earnings.
Salary: annual salary ÷ paychecks per year (52 weekly, 26 biweekly, 24 semi-monthly, 12 monthly) + bonuses and other earnings.
Worked example with your numbers
- Regular pay: 80 hours × $22.00 = $1,760.00.
- Overtime pay: 4 hours × $22.00 × 1.5 = $132.00.
- Gross pay: $1,760.00 + $132.00 = $1,892.00.
Under the FLSA, overtime is owed for hours over 40 in a workweek, at 1.5 times the regular rate. Some states also require daily overtime.
