How to choose
- Hourly staff who clock in and out: look at clock-in, kiosk, GPS or geofencing, breaks and overtime rows.
- Project or client billing: look for billable rates, invoicing and project reports.
- Team size: free plans differ a lot in how many users they allow — check the “Free plan” row.
- Payroll: if you already use a payroll service, check that the app exports or connects to it.

Can a free time tracker handle overtime?

Do I still need timesheets if I use an app?
Employers must keep accurate records of hours worked under the FLSA. An app can be that record if it stores the actual hours and you can export them.
